Philosophy

Metta Buddhist Monastery was founded by Most Ven. W. Ratanasiri Maha Thero. He is also the founder and chairperson of Metta Buddhist Centre, Sri Lanka.

Metta Buddhist Centre was set up in 2003 in memory of the late Ven. D. Sangharathana Nayaka Mahathera who was the Chief Incumbent of the Rajamaha Viharaya Weherahena (Buddhist Temple), Matara, Sri Lanka. The Most Venerable Nayaka Mahathera who passed away on 28th December 2002 was a strong advocate of Buddhism.

We are very grateful for all the donations and support given to us. May all beings be well and happy!
