Our Monastery

Metta Buddhist Monastery is a UK Registered Charity (registered charity number 1206097). Welcome to The Metta Buddhist Monastery, a Buddhist sanctuary dedicated to fostering inner peace, spiritual growth, and community harmony. Nestled amidst tranquil surroundings, our temple aspires to be a sanctuary for those seeking solace and a deeper connection to the teachings of Buddhism. With its doors set to open in just a few months, Metta Buddhist Monastery will offer a sacred space for meditation, contemplation, and the exploration of Buddhist principles.

Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where individuals from all walks of life can come together to cultivate mindfulness, compassion, and a sense of interconnectedness. Join us on this profound journey as we embark on a path towards enlightenment and collective well-being.

Our History

Metta Buddhist Monastery was founded by Most Ven. W. Ratanasiri Maha Thero, who inspired by his master, the Most Venerable D. Sangharathana Nayaka Mahathera’s dedication to welfare work, established Metta Social Services Foundation in Sri Lanka.

Ven. W. Ratanasiri Maha Thero is also the founder and chief incumbent of the Metta Buddhist Centre in Matara and chief incumbent of Sooriyapokuna Raja Maha Vihara of Sri Lanka.

Daily Pujas

Daily Pujas will be held at the temple from 07:30 pm to 08:30 pm at the Metta Buddhist Monastery. Please join us in person or via Zoom.

Relocation to our Own Temple

We are excited to announce, we will be shifting to a new temple of our own, which we have purchased, in the week starting 11th of November 2024.
